Formally
a team that consisted of all IKEA employees. I took over the
coaching responsibilities in the middle of the Spring 2000
season. After the Spring 2001 season the team became more
of an IKEA sponsored team instead of an IKEA team. In 2002
IKEA didn't sponsor and we became the Dirty Misfits. In the
Spring of 2003, we established a new team in Division 2 and
kept our original players in Division 1. The Divsion 1 team
consisted mainly of friends and some IKEA employees. The Divsion
2 team first consisted mainly of IKEA employess that were
new to the game or didn't have much previous experience in
softball. Now Division 2 are players that just enjoy playing
ball and are out to have fun. The Spring 2005 was the first
season that Tacketts Mill sponsored our team.
IKEA
and the Misfits have been playing in Prince William County
the longest of any team currently in the league, 15+ years.
We have always played in the Eastern Prince William County
softball league, but in Spring 2005 our Division 1 team played
in Western Prince William Softball League and our Division
2 team in Eastern Prince William County. In 2006, we returned
to playing in EPWC.
Past names
have been the IKEA Retailers, IKEA Misfits, and Tacketts Mill
Misfits. Our original Dirty Misfits Jersey is Orange with
navy lettering. We played one season with athletic grey jerseys
and navy lettering in Division 2. The colors for our sponsored
teams: Red with navy lettering for Tackett Mills, Navy with
yellow lettering for IKEA. In Summer 2007 we got our new jerseys
with the Dirty Misfits logo.
